Common Accelerated Weathering Tests like Xenon Arc Exposure (ASTM D 2565, ASTM D4459, ASTM DG155, ISO 4892, SAE J1885, SAE J1960) along with the new highly predictive accelerated weathering (Xenon Arc HPAW) and QUV (ASTM D4329, D4587, ISO 4892, SAE J2020) Florescent Light Exposure Accelerated Weathering are expertly performed at Intertek Plastics Technology Laboratories (Intertek PTL) in our state-of-the-art Weathering Laboratory. In fact Intertek PTL performs generally every weathering test required by the plastic industry. All standard Weathering tests are A2LA Accredited and performed on state of the art equipment. Microprocessor controlled units provide customized test capabilities and assure that you receive the accurate and precise results you require, and our turn around times cannot be beat.

Accelerated Weathering is generally accomplished by exposing the plastic to cycles of intense light, heat and water exposure. While no accelerated test can exactly predict the plastics performance in actual outdoor exposure, the controlled tests can provide meaningful material comparisons that assist engineers in making choices. At Intertek PTL we also provide performance evaluations before and after exposure including Optical Tests like Gloss (ASTM D2457, ASTM D523), Refractive Index (ASTM D542, ISO 489), Haze and Luminous Transmission (ASTM D751, ASTM D1044), Three Dimensional Color Measurement to XYZ or LAB Scale (ASTM D6290, ASTM E 1347, ASTM E308, Grey Scale per AATCC), Yellowness Index (ASTM E313) to name just a few. Additionally, Mechanical and Physical Tests are often required to determine the effect of the accelerated weathering incuding, Tests like Tensile Strength and Tensile Modulus (ASTM D638, ISO 527), Flexural Strength and Flexural Modulus (ASTM D790, ISO 178) along with Izod Impact (ASTM D256, ISO 180) and Multiaxial High Speed Dynatup Impact (ASTM 3763, ISO 6603 and ISO 7765) are expertly performed at Plastics Technology Laboratories, Inc. In addition, Intertek PTL also performs generally every other mechanical plastics test required by the plastics industry, including Compressive Strength (ASTM D695, ISO 604), Shear (ASTM D732), Rockwell Hardness (ASTM D785, ISO 2039) and Barcol Hardness (ASTM D2583) to name just a few.

We also have the ability for ASTM and ISO Sample Preparation by Injection Molding, along with CNC Machining and Compression Molding to assure that your ASTM and ISO samples are properly prepared.
